Chokecherry Point is an overlook up on Boulder Mountain Top, the ride starts in Bicknell crossing the bottoms then climbing up the western slope of Boulder Mountain which is the only way to get to the Aquarius Plateau from the north. Boulder Top is 50,000 acres of low rolling hills covered with meadows, lakes and forests and almost all above 11,000 ft. Mid October is just about the end of the season for Boulder Top, the road is closed on November 1st and doesn't re-open until June 15th, if enough snow has melted by then, which it hadn't in 2005.
Raft Lake has already begun to freeze on this day, the small hill on the right of the picture is Bluebell Knob, the highest point on Boulder Mountain at 11,328ft.
A word on the names, Boulder Mountain is generally what the area is called with the flat area on top called Boulder Top. Both are part of the Aquarius Plateau which covers about 900 square miles in Wayne and Garfield counties and is the highest plateau in North America.
