Couser Canyon Rd starts from 76 in the San Luis Rey river valley and heads south over the valley wall. At first it is flat through melon fields and some horse pasture but soon it starts to climb and gets narrow and twisty. At the top of the valley side there is a good view back to the north, the road is on the left of the picture and starts way down by the pointy mountain just right of centre.

From the top of the valley the road winds across the top of the hills before descending to Lilac Valley Road.
