Cathedral Valley Loop

Out of the blue I got a call from the Robber's Roost book store, it was a BMWSportTouring.com member who happened to be in Torrey for a couple of days and wanted to go for a dualsport ride - Marty - or ScooterBrained as he is known on the board. Marty had flown from Florida where he lives to Montana to buy a Kawasaki KLX250 dual purpose bike just because he wanted to ride in the west. His plan was to spend some time in Montana then tour the mountains before heading home on the bike - a cross country trip on a 250 dual sport bike! Crazy. We rode together two days, on the first we took the Burr Trail and Notom Road loop but I didn't take many pictures. This is the story of the second day.

We started out by taking a short cut to the park, the place where the flash flood washed out the Sulphur Creek crossing last month, when we reached the crossing it was "blocked off" by a few rocks but it looked perfectly crossable to us on the bikes, as far as we could tell we were the first to cross it since the flood. I took a series of pictures of Marty crossing the creek then he took them of me, 9 shots total which I've shuffled off onto their own page

After that little bit of fun we set out for Cathedral Valley.

Less than a mile down the Caineville Wash road we came across this rock fall, but that was easy stuff for us to get round as Marty demonstrates.

Marty had fun on the rocks, there aren't too many like this in Florida.

He didn't have much trouble with the occasional muddy wash crossing either.

We soon made it out to the temples, the Temple Of The Moon had been quite wet, the wash on this side of it doesn't usually show any signs of use.

The mud had formed pretty patterns where the wash ran off.

The road to the temples had quite a lot of water in it in places.
