18th November 2007
The amazing weather continued so I headed out round Boulder Mountain to explore,
unfortunately this was to be a good day with a terrible ending that really took all the joy out of it.
Today my close and dear friend Keith Bower had a heart attack and died during a soccer match he was playing in, he had turned 50
just a couple of weeks ago. I have known Keith and Rebecca for almost 20 years since we started playing for Clayton Soccer Club, they
came to visit me when I moved away from Concord to Fallbrook and came out to Torrey when I moved here and I usually stayed with them when
I went to the Bay Area. Keith was the genuine article, a man with no pretense, a slightly rough exterior with a heart of gold. He lived for playing football (soccer)
and the social activities associated with it and was an excellent player.
He was a great family man and totally dedicated to Rebecca even if sometimes he stayed out a bit
longer than he said he would after games. I will miss Keith for the rest of my life.

Cyclone Lake, it's an odd name for a lake high on a mountain.

There was a raft of ice in the shaded area.

Many ducks were noisily feeding on this side of the lake because there were some people on the other side training water dogs. Rather appropriate for Barker Reservoir.

This place is going to be absolutely gorgeous when the aspens first leaf out in the spring.

Big View near Escalante, you can see the road snaking down the cliffs in the shaded area.
