William Way - April 5th 1999

On April 2nd 1999 at 8 a.m. I became the owner of a house in Concord, California after living in rentals for the previous 13 years. The house was only 2 years younger than me and needed some TLC to get it into shape but the price was right and it had a large yard which is hard to find at a reasonable price in California.

From the street, I hadn't really noticed how asymmetric the garage looked until I saw this picture. At some point in the past the right edge of the garage has been re-shaped, probably to allow a boat to be kept there. The Mulberry tree in the front has been allowed to grow big and should be a good source of compost in the autumn!

In May 2002 I sold the house on William Way to move to San Diego. It was probably the only move I would have considered making as I had always thought about living in the San Diego area ever since I moved to California in 1979. I put a lot of work into the WW house especially in the yard so it wasn't easy to leave but I found a really nice new place in Fallbrook which made it easier. The asymmetry of the house was fixed in 2001 when I had a false panel put on the right side at the same time I got a new roof. The guy who bought the house from me immediately landscaped the front yard which looked great when I last saw it.

I've left some of my favourite pictures here to remind me of the house.
