Bob at Home

Home has been several places over the last 48 years, it is currently the tiny town of Torrey in South Central Utah which is definitely the best place I have lived.

Homes

The red names are places where I have lived, I was born in Luton, England and moved to Concord, California in 1979 (via Wichita, Kansas which I never considered home). I spent 22 years in the San Francisco East Bay, mostly in Concord but with shorter times in Martinez and Pittsburgh.  In 1990 I quit my job to go motorcycle touring in Europe and due to various unexpected circumstances I ended up taking a job in Heidelberg, Germany. I stayed there for about 7 months before returning to California. When I originally moved to California in 1979 I had wanted to go to San Diego but was persuaded otherwise, so when, in 2002, my employer offered to transfer me to the office down there I took the chance. Unfortunately (maybe) that job only lasted two years before they shut us down. I took the next year off and traveled, along the way stopping in Torrey and having a vision that it was the place I should live. So far, as of September 2007, it is working out well.

The Big Trips

The green lines represent the major motorcycle trips I have taken, I've ridden a lot more than is shown by these lines, over 440,000 miles so far. The blue line is a car trip I took which I wish I had done on a bike instead.
