In June of 2002 I moved from the San Francisco area to the San Diego area - the only move I think I would have considered making within the US.
I bought a house on Alta Vista Drive in the Winterwarm area of Fallbrook which is about 55 miles north of downtown San Diego and 99 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.

The lot is 3/4 of an acre with a grove of about 50 fruit trees of many varieties on the back half. The road is almost the ridge of a hill and the yard gently slopes from front to back forming a small valley at the bottom of the property which you can see running diagonally SW from there. The rectangular black shapes just SW of my place are some sort of nursery covers but don't look to be all that active.
In July of 2004 I sold this house and the San Diego and California experiments were over - I moved on to Torrey, Utah
